Breastfeeding week celebration at Tiny Hearts Children’s Hospital.

We organised several educational sessions to create awareness for the young mothers and to be mothers at Tiny Hearts Children’sHospital. Speech by our paediatrician Dr Mani Ram Krishna was loaded with information ! Dr Usha Nandini Maniram vividly explained and cleared the doubts of the parents. We had very good interactive sessions.

And the event’s highlight was a quiz conducted to assess the understanding of the audience.
The winners were given prizes! It’s a unique bond between mother and baby ! Family support is crucial for a successful breastfeeding. Encouragement, practical help with household chores , positive attitude will improve the mother’s breastfeeding experience. It’s not just nutrition but also protects against infections and even long term illness. Every mom can feel the love when the baby looks at the moment while feeding. Also equally a baby on breastfeeding benefits mom by helping in returning to pre pregnancy weight , reducing the risk of cancer !

Tiny Hearts Children’s Hospital & Rotary Club of Thanjavur joined hands to conduct breast and cervical cancer screening free camp. A team of specialist doctors participated. Clinical assessment and investigations ( mammogram, ultrasound and pap smear ) were done and many women got benefitted. Cancer awareness speech was included to emphasize the prevalence of cancer, the importance of early detection by regular screening. We educates the public to help in reducing the social stigma and encouraging public participation in cancer diagnosis / awareness initiatives.

Early detection will cure the disease!
